Our Mission
The Santa Fe Concert Association seeks to provide the citizens of Santa Fe and northern New Mexico the opportunity to hear concerts of music at the highest levels of international accomplishment.

The Santa Fe Concert Association provides the citizens of Santa Fe and Northern New Mexico with the opportunity to experience performances of classical music, dance and music theater at the highest levels, performed by internationally recognized artists and ensembles. The roster of artists has included James Galway, Denyce Graves, Radu Lupu, Barry Douglas, Olga Kern, Joshua Bell, Gil Shaham and Pinchas Zukerman, to name only a few.

Our History
Having begun on April 1, 1937 as a member of Columbia Artists Management's Community Concerts, the pattern of presenting international artists in Santa Fe was established. At that time Community Concerts provided a network of community presenters for which the great artists of the day appeared. The roster of artists from the early years included such luminaries as: Mischa Elman, Gregor Piatigorsky, Zino Francescatti, Astrid Varnay, Rudolph Firkusny, Jennie Tourel, George London and William Primrose among many others. The tradition of the great performer and ensemble has continued to this day.

In 1970 the Association became independent, wishing to have a greater say in the choice of artists. Since that time it has grown to include Youth Concerts and Special Events in addition to its Distinguished Artists Series, Sponsored Events of local organizations and presentations, where possible, of local soloists.

While the focus of the Association has been to present performing artists at the highest levels of international career status, the purpose has been to provide performances of the great music of the past and present.

Music from Gregorian Chant to the renaissance music of Orlando di Lassus, Caccini and Gombert has been presented along with the Italian traditions of Vivaldi and Corelli, the classical music of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, the romantic music of, Schubert, Schumann, Brahms, Franck, Wolf and Tchaikovsky, the innovative early 20th century music of Schönberg, Berg, Webern, Bártok, Stravinsky and Shostakovich, and the more recent music of John Cage, John Adams and Steve Reich among many others.
Special holiday concerts which began with the music of Bach & Vivaldi have focused on the music of Mozart for the last eight seasons. This great treasury of repertoire has been presented in the context of the solo vocal and instrumental recital, piano trios, piano quartets, string quartets & quintets, string orchestras, chamber orchestras, full orchestras and on occasion dance
ensembles.

Special performances have included music theatre, chamber opera, master classes, pre-concert introductions, and National Public Radio Broadcasts.

The SFCA has maintained its position as one of the leading concert series of the southwest through a long history of individuals who have served as board members, volunteers, and supporters. Funds for the Association have been raised by gala concerts, banquets, program advertising, city and state contract grants, foundation assistance and private and corporate contributions and tickets. The Association has contributed its support to the community through the production of benefit concerts for the Santa Clara Pueblo and the Santa Fe Community Foundation, and through its 26 years of Youth Concerts for the students of the Santa Fe Public and private schools.
