Our History
What began as a decade old safe-space at our local Youth Center in the challenged Clearlake, California pivoted to "YouthOne" after losing funding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This past June, our team faced an immense loss with the passing of our Executive Director, Carl Hilsz. Carl’s vision for YouthOne--a brighter future through music--has inspired our team to consolidate and continue his mission. In addition to focusing our efforts on MusicOne's music services, we’re committed to expanding our programs, reaching more youth across the Bay Area, rebuilding our infrastructure, and ensuring long-term sustainability as a nonprofit in 2025.

Youth Advisory
Keeping our finger on the pulse.
Our Opportunity
The need for our services has never been greater, with youth mental health facing sobering trends in the Bay Area. Now, a generous donor has pledged to match donations up to $10,000 this holiday season, doubling the impact of every gift. Funds raised will allow us to expand our 2025 services with youth at Pyramind Institute.
We invite you to help us carry Carl’s legacy forward by making a donation today to reach more youth, foster resilience, and build a healthier future.
Our Vision
Our Mission
Our vision is a world where every young person has access to the resources they need to improve well-being and realize their potential through music.
Our mission is to bridge the gap between aspiration and opportunity by empowering underserved youth through music.
1
Holistic Development
We value not just musical skill, but also emotional and social growth. MusicOne believes in fostering well-rounded individuals who thrive both personally and artistically.
2
Inclusivity & Accessibility
We prioritize creating safe, inclusive spaces where all youth—especially those with special needs—can benefit from the therapeutic power of music and feel empowered.
3
Connection & Community
MusicOne is dedicated to building meaningful connections between students, instructors, and the community through music, encouraging collaboration and emotional support.
4
Excellence in Education
We aim to provide high-quality, tailored music education by partnering with industry professionals and offering top-tier instruction that sets students on a professional path.
5
Transformation Through Music
At our core, we believe in the transformative power of music, whether it’s through therapy, performance, or learning, that can profoundly change lives.
Our Values

How We're Different
MusicOne offers a unique blend of music therapy, Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), and professional development that is unavailable in traditional music programs.
Here, young people receive support that builds resilience, confidence, and a sense of community belonging—all while developing strong musical and personal skills.

Our Approach
By collaborating with existing music services and programs, we’re able to support and amplify the resources already in place, while filling critical gaps with our own targeted initiatives.
This unity-driven approach allows us to focus on holistic youth development, ensuring young people in our community have access to the musical, social, and emotional support they need to thrive.
